Marni McMahan

I make abstract art in the form of quilts. I enjoy working with shapes found in nature, creating unusual colour combinations, the technical challenge of sewing together complex shapes and the rhythmic meditation of quilting layers together. 

In my work you may see influences of my passion for folk art, traditional textiles of South and Central America, the pageantry of the First Nations big house and the plants and creatures of the west coast of BC.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to live and create on Quadra Island for more than 30 years.
