In Camino No. 1, Melanie Circle opens her spiritual journey with a landscape of emotion and memory. Swaths of warm umber and dusky green tilt toward a mysterious horizon, where forms dissolve and reappear — much like thoughts on a long walk. The slope of a red-roofed structure anchors the piece, while wind-swept brushstrokes suggest movement, impermanence, and the quiet strength of the pilgrim path.

Painted upon her return from walking nearly 900 kilometres of the Camino de Santiago in 2003, this piece is one of a series created on 12”x12” canvas panels. Each work reflects not only what Melanie saw, but what she felt — the weight of her pack, the wisdom of her journal, the freedom of chocolate and silence.

Somewhere in that blur of paint and memory, you find yourself again.
