Artist: Sylvia Yung – Quadra Island
Description:
This is not a print — it is an encounter.
Printed from the body of an octopus found along the tidal edge of Quadra Island, eight is both artifact and gesture. Inked and pressed by hand onto Japanese paper, the work holds the literal imprint of a cephalopod — its limbs, texture, and silent intelligence recorded in fluid motion.
What remains is a striking, ephemeral form: half-myth, half-memory. It speaks not only of the creature itself, but of the moment it was found — between water and air, stillness and release.
A unique monoprint by Sylvia Yung, eight invites the viewer into a quiet ritual of noticing — where the natural world becomes mark, body, presence.
