SWTBT No. 9 vibrates with kinetic energy and layered movement. Wisps of pale white and blush pink arc across the page like fleeting spirits, while bolder graphite colour curves suggest rounded shoulders, downturned faces, or protectively folded arms. Yellow and red scribbles flicker at the edges — like thoughts trying to break through fog.

As always, Melanie Circle’s process is one of deep receptivity and improvisation. She allows the painting to emerge rather than be imposed, building each layer through instinct and curiosity. The resulting image is not one answer, but a thousand possible stories.
