In SWTBT #6, Melanie Circle invites us once again into her layered process of creative emergence. Here, a dreamlike atmosphere unfolds in deep violets and shadowy blues. A broad, almost animal-like figure bends inward, facing a second form enclosed within a vertical frame — an echo, a reflection, or a visitation.

As with all paintings in this series, there was no plan. Instead, Melanie let colour and gesture guide her, beginning with writing, scribbles, and layered washes. Through rotating the page and lifting pigment, she waits for forms to surface — forms that feel strangely familiar, yet unplaceable.

This piece hums with ambiguity. Its story hasn’t been told yet. Perhaps it never will be.
