From her Stories Waiting to Be Told series, Melanie Circle’s SWBT #10 begins not with a plan, but with presence. Using scribbles, poetry, and a wash of overlapping colour, Melanie invites the unknown to emerge — painting not what she intends, but what she discovers.

This layered mixed media piece unfolds in a palette of softened pastels and intuitive forms. Shapes drift in and out of focus, inviting the viewer to pause, reflect, and recognize something once felt but never seen.

Melanie describes her work as “things I’ve never seen before, but I recognize them anyway.” Her process leaves space for both artist and viewer to explore meaning, memory, and imagination together.
